Dawkins says he gave up football because of mental health

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – Former Indiana and Arizona quarterback Brandon Dawkins says he gave up football because he wanted to take care of his “deteriorating” mental health.

Dawkins informed Hoosiers coach Tom Allen on Sunday he was leaving this system after enrolling in class this summer time as a graduate switch from Arizona. He misplaced the beginning job to Peyton Ramsey.

Dawkins had not supplied a public clarification till writing a submit Wednesday night time on Instagram.

In it he defined he wanted a “take a break from the game.” Dawkins indicated he additionally had misplaced the “joy” he felt enjoying the game over the previous couple of seasons and wanted to take care of himself.

He thanked the psychology groups he labored with at each Indiana and Arizona.
