State’s Dem congressional candidates top GOP in fundraising

SEATTLE (AP) – Democratic contenders in Washington’s best midterm congressional races have bested their Republican rivals in marketing campaign fundraising over the previous few months.

The Seattle Times reviews Democratic candidates, Kim Schrier, Lisa Brown and Carolyn Lon, every practically doubled or tripled the fundraising hauls of their Republican rivals, in keeping with new Federal Election Commission filings this week, masking the interval of July 19 by Sept. 30.

In Washington’s eighth Congressional District, Schrier, a pediatrician and first-time candidate, pulled in $three.7 million over the latest reporting interval – greater than triple the $1.1 million raised over that interval by her Republican rival, former state senator and real-estate investor Dino Rossi.

McMorris Rodgers has raised $5.1 million complete throughout her re-election marketing campaign, in contrast with $four.6 million for Brown, a former state senator and college chancellor.

And in a race gaining new nationwide consideration, in Southwest Washington’s third Congressional District, Democratic challenger Long, a political-science professor and first-time candidate, raised $1.7 million in the newest FEC reporting interval, in contrast with about $540,000 for fourth-term incumbent Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Vancouver.
