Video: How Elvis Introduced Paul McCartney to the Remote Control

The Beatles met Elvis Presley solely as soon as, at his house in Los Angeles whereas they had been on their second US Tour in August 1965.

“He was just aiming it at the TV, and the channels were changing and we go ‘Whoa! He is indeed the mighty God. He can turn the channels without approaching the television set!’ So we were very impressed by that.”

In reality, the first wi-fi distant, Zenith’s Flashmatic, was launched ten years earlier, in 1955. It managed sound and channels by flashing a beam of sunshine at the tv. The solely downside? On good days, daylight would generally change the channel on you.

But remotes had been sluggish to take off.
